6:45pm - 7:10pm 1 Life, 6,236 Verses:  Living the Prophetic Reality
How can we radiate and “Muhammadize” ourselves and our fellow man, especially in these times of decadence and non-belief. How are Muslims to live in a violent and wounded world? Rather than contending for privilege by wielding power and authority, we can learn to witness prophetically. In this fascinating session we learn how the life of the Prophet is interwoven with revelation and provides a unique model of inclusive existence that is underpinned by a deep spirituality and theology. Together, join us as we carefully explore the contours of the life of a countercultural icon, family man, and spiritual giant. Learn to embody his unique way of being and witnessing to a new order—one marked by radical forms of gentleness, peacemaking and faithfulness. This invigorating conversation is for everyday Muslims who desire to live faithfully in a world that is suffering.

7:25pm - 8:20pm Finding Our Footing: Addressing Social Problems Through Spiritual Practice
Enjoining what is good and tackling the many social issues around us requires an awareness of the Qur’anic standards of what constitutes truth and what is “good”, as well as an approach to our problems grounded in spirituality rather than other frameworks. Addressing such maladies from racism to misogyny in a distinctively different way, this session presents a refreshing new vision of the internal peace that is possible for each individual, and ultimately for our society as a whole.

9:15pm - 10:00pm Why Do We Fast?
Fasting — or any other regularly enjoyed, good gift from God — for the sake of some spiritual purpose is markedly counter-cultural in our consumerist society. We fast in this life because we believe in the life to come. We don’t have to get it all here and now, because we have a promise that we will have it all in the coming age. We fast from what we can see and taste, because we have tasted and seen the goodness of the invisible and infinite Lord — and are desperately hungry for more of Him (May He Be Exalted). Listen with your heart as Shaykh Mokhtar Magharoui distills ancient wisdom to re-ignite your Ramadan and your spiritual life.

10:00pm - 10:15pm Joining the Hearts Through the Qur’an
The sound of the Qur'an is the predominant and most immediate mean of contact with the Word of God. It is the core of religious devotion, the sanctioning spirit of much cultural and social life, and a valued art form in its own right. Reciting the Qur'an aims at redirecting that focus toward a deeper understanding of the Qur'an as a fundamentally oral phenomenon. Breaking free from the passive performer-audience dynamic of interaction, join in this recitation to not only hear but take part in the sacred word, led by one of the most outstanding reciters in America, Shaykh Hassan Saleh.

10:00am - 11:00am Signs of The Times:  How Do We Situate the Use & Misuse of Scripture?
Literal meaning is what a text means, regardless of what its author intends to convey or the reader understands to be its message. Qur’anic verses contain the most powerful, prophetic and revelatory passages in religious history. They offer the vision of a meaningful and just life that anchors the religion of one-fifth of the world’s inhabitants. How then do we explain the misuse of texts to validate wanton violence and abhorrent views? In this session we examine Qur’anic legal hermeneutics to explore various competing notions of literal meaning, linked to both theological and historical developments, together with insights from modern semantic and pragmatic philosophies.

11:15am - 12:15pm Digital Detox
New technology and ways to communicate undoubtedly make our lives easier, but our smartphones and social media can inundate our lives and cloud our hearts. Our constant consumption in a media-centric culture poses serious spiritual risk, and knowing how to engage it, and just as importantly, when to disengage from it, are both essential to our spiritual health.

For the health-conscious, much attention is given to how diet and exercise are part of a healthy lifestyle. What, then, about the health of the qalb, the spiritual heart? 10:00am - 10:45am Friends In High Places
Once a long-standing core belief, the belief in Friends of God (Awliya Allah), while rooted in the sacred text often offends modern outlooks. The general definition of the Muslim saint in classical texts is that the person represents a "[friend of God] marked by [special] divine favor". Understanding of the purpose of these Friends of God points us towards our own aspirational quest. They say, "The Friends of God are those who, when they are seen, God is remembered." How many of us have that impact today within our concentric circles of family, work, and broader society? Join us as we rediscover this once understood point of creed, and delve deeper in the nature of our spiritual relationships with giants of the past as we look to remake our future selves.

11:00am - 12:00pm Transcending the Debates
With an onslaught of competing man-made ideologies and the emergence of a global monoculture confusing many, our need for a refresher in the basic tenets of our faith is vital. Understanding the primacy of the Qur’an and that of the walking Qur’an, the Messenger of God, are essential to confidently and sincerely present a unique, Qur’anically-inspired and Prophetically-modeled vision that reconnects the world with the Divine.
